Who is training aimed at?

Training is intended for anyone over the age of 16. Do not feel worried that you have little or no experience or knowledge of the game of hockey, we would be pleased to accommodate you at our training and help you to learn at your own pace.

Health and Safety

Health and safety is our first priority and coaches will take every precaution to ensure that the facility, equipment and training plans are safe to complete or work with and players complete several warm-up exercises. However we realise that unfortunately there is always the chance of injury so in that eventuality there are trained health and safety officials on site with recommended equipment and access to emergency services if required

The Aim of Hockey

So what is the game of hockey all about?

GOALS!!!!! GOALS!!!!! and MORE GOALS!!!!!

The game of hockey is classified as an invasion sport. This implies that the teams are attempting to invade an area of their oppositions to achieve a success (goal). To achieve this teams may try various methods of attack and defence to make sure their success rate is greater than their oppositions – score more than they do.

Session Structure

We will generally try to use the Whole-Part-Whole (WpW) session structure which involves a warm up, small games, technical practices, larger games and cool down sessions. With the session being split into different technical and practice sessions to get the most out of our players.
